The government has no intent to fulfill the ultimatum demands of RosUkrEnergo concerning the natural gas supplies to Ukraine.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv today, after an extraordinary session of the government, which considered the issue of natural gas supplies to Ukraine.

“I officially announce that the government of Ukraine, which gathered for its session today, will not yield to the blackmail of RosUkrEnergo and UkrGas Energo”, Yulia Tymoshenko claimed.

The Prime Minister specified that presently they propose Ukraine to sign contracts on Middle-Asian natural gas supplies in November-December of 2007 at prices of the year 2008, or to conclude a contract on partial supplies of Russian natural gas at 316 dollars for a thousand cubic meters of gas.

“We will not sign any agreements with RosUkrEnergo and UkrGas Energo for natural gas supplies in November-December of 2007 at prices of the year 2008, and we will not buy any other natural gas from RosUkrEnergo in January”, she stressed.

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the gas consumption in Ukraine in January of 2008 made up 3.128 billion cubic meters instead of forecasted 4.2 billion cubic meters of Middle-Asian natural gas.

“We insist that Ukraine immediately sign contracts on gas supplies in January-February of 2007, at prices, which were agreed at the level of 179.5 US dollars, until me, as the head of government, pay visit to the Russian Federation and discuss conditions of gas supplies to Ukraine”, the Prime Minister stressed.

The Prime Minister emphasized that today the government’s session supported this position of Ukraine on the issue of gas supplies.
