On Thursday first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, ex-Prime Ministers Vitold Fokin, Valeriy Pustovoytenko, Yevhen Marchuk, and former deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Komissarenko claimed about creating the Board of Elders. The organization also includes director of the National Security Problems Institute Valeriy Gorbulin.
According to the initiator of creating the board, Leonid Kravchuk, the members will “inform about the facts of illegalities, committed by officials, explain what these illegalities may result in, and propose ways to solve problems”.
Asked why second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma was not included into the Board, L.Kravchuk noted: “One of the key positions is that all participants fought for the power only in a constitutional way”. “I do respect Leonid Danylovych [Kuchma]. He did very much. If one takes into account the gas issue, he tackled the problem, and there were no such stupid things as now. However, the referendum of the year 2000 was unconstitutional [President Kuchma put for the referendum a number of issues to broaden his authority]”, - explained Mr.Kravchuk. “Why should we create problems for us?”, he asked.
