Oshchadbank state-owned OJSC [Savings Bank] may be put for privatization as soon as it completes paying off compensations to USSR Savings Bank depositors.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Verkhovna Rada Committee for tax and customs policy chairman Serhiy Terkyokhin claimed this to Europe-Ukraine International Forum today.

“As soon as the program on paying off deposits through the Savings Bank is finished, we will think about its privatization. The society does not need this state-owned bank”, S.Terkyokhin claimed.

At the same time, he noted that, probably, in future one of the bank’s subdivisions will be charged with servicing the process of paying off compensations to Soviet-era depositors.
