Batkivshchyna Party leader Tymoshenko tested positive for coronavirus

Leader of the Batkivshchyna Party, Ukrainian MP Yulia Tymoshenko has tested positive for the novel coronavirus and is in serious condition with a fever, says her press secretary Maryna Soroka.

She's fighting [the disease]!" she wrote on Facebook on Sunday, August 23, following some media reports.

Noteworthy, Tymoshenko's daughter Eugenia, as well as Eugenia's husband Arthur Chechetkin, have also fell ill, according to the media reports. However, the press secretary declined to give further detail.

COVID-19 in Ukraine: latest

• On August 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his 7-year-old son Kyrylo had COVID-19 and underwent treatment along with the First Lady, Olena Zelenska.
• Ukraine reported 104,958 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of the morning of August 23. They include 2,271 deaths and 52,235 recoveries.
• A total of 1,987 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
