Ukraine's health minister: Over 7,200 children, almost 12,500 healthcare workers contract COVID-19

Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov says 45,887 Ukrainian citizens have contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19) since the start of the pandemic, among them are 7,257 children and 12,449 healthcare workers.

"In the past day, 889 people tested positive for the coronavirus, including 38 children and 63 healthcare workers. Some 221 new patients were hospitalized. There were 12 deaths and 505 recoveries," he said at a briefing on July 2.

The overall death toll is 1,185 people.

As many as 20,053 patients have already recovered.
