The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Ukraine exceeded 20,000 on Friday morning.

"According to the Public Health Center, there were 20,148 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as of 09:00 Kyiv time on May 22," Ukraine's Health Ministry said on Facebook in its morning update on May 22.

Of them, 588 cases were reported in the past 24 hours.

Now the novel coronavirus was recorded in the following regions: 824 cases in Vinnytsia region; 740 in Volyn region; 859 in Dnipropetrovsk region; 141 in Donetsk region; 607 in Zhytomyr region; 1,003 in Zakarpattia region; 401 in Zaporizhia region; 1,268 in Ivano-Frankivsk region; 460 in Kirovohrad region; 2,522 in the city of Kyiv; 1,344 in Kyiv region; 1,240 in Lviv region; 43 in Luhansk region; 277 in Mykolayiv region; 814 in Odesa region; 266 in Poltava region; 1,323 in Rivne region; 166 in Sumy region; 1,105 in Ternopil region; 866 in Kharkiv region; 173 in Kherson region; 299 in Khmelnytsky region; 2,905 in Chernivtsi region; 383 in Cherkasy region; 119 in Chernihiv region.

Data from Russia-occupied areas – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions – is not available.

COVID-19 tests were conducted by the Public Health Center's virological reference laboratory and regional laboratories. As of the morning of May 22, 2020, the Center had received 1,284 reports of suspected cases. In total, there have been 50,636 reports on suspected COVID-19 since the beginning of 2020.

A total of 588 COVID-19 deaths have already been recorded in the country. Some 6,585 patients have recovered.
