Ukraine's Health Ministry says nine Ukrainian regions are not ready for lifting COVID-19 curbs.

The epidemiological situation as of July 28 did not let Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, and Chernivtsi regions enter the next stage of easing the coronavirus-related quarantine.

To have COVID-19 curbs lifted, regions, cities and towns in Ukraine should meet a set of criteria.

Such criteria reflect measures to control the spread of the virus, hospitals' capacities, and the ability of the healthcare system as a whole to counter the spread of COVID-19, the ministry said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, 919 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 66,575 as of the morning of July 28.
