Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov has the conditions and date for the possible resumption of this year's football season in Ukraine.

"Can football come back on May 30? We're really considering this date," Stepanov said, according to the Futbol 1/2/3 TV channels' website.

"We are talking with epidemiologists on how to hold the championship safely. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure PCR testing, since this is about the safety of our players. Also, we need to ensure safety for everyone at the stadium during matches. I think early next week we'll be able to say when and under what conditions the League will restart," the minister said.

Stepanov also elaborated on the algorithm to be applied by football clubs if any of their players test positive for the novel coronavirus: "The whole team should go to self-isolation for 14 days. If on the eve they played an official match, it is also necessary to isolate the opposing team."

The minister noted that the fans would be allowed back to the stands only after the coronavirus pandemic is tackled.

The issue will be off the table until September, the official stresses.
