Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov says the crime rate has plunged amid the coronavirus-related quarantine introduced in the country.

"The registration of certain types of crimes during the quarantine: homicides decreased by 36%, grave bodily injuries by 68%, banditry by 30%, robberies by 50%, thefts by 41%, and fraud and hooliganism also went down," he said at a special government meeting, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers extended the coronavirus-related quarantine in the country until May 22. It was imposed on March 11.
