Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov says 4,998 children and 8,693 healthcare workers have contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19) since the start of the pandemic.

"In the past day, 1,172 people tested positive for the coronavirus, including 68 children and 39 healthcare workers. Some 232 new patients were hospitalized. There were 16 deaths and 556 recoveries," he said at a briefing on July 31.
The overall death toll is 1,709 people.
As many as 39,308 patients have already recovered.
As UNIAN reported earlier, 1,172 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 71,056 as of the morning of August 1.
