Andriy Shevchenko`s one-year loan spell at former club AC Milan is nearing its conclusion and it appears likely that the Ukrainian international, once considered as one of the most deadliest hitmen around, will return to Chelsea. Yet this would not please the 32-year-old, Goal.com reported.

"He’s due back at Chelsea," a spokesman claimed to the Daily Star. "He has been told they want to see what happens up until Christmas."

The spokesperson concluded by remarking, "He’s not optimistic, considering the amount of playing time he was given at Milan."

Shevchenko, despite his former idol status at San Siro, has featured only intermittently in the past campaign, when Carlo Ancelotti was at the helm.

Ancelotti has since departed, though. But, in a cruel twist of fate for Shevchenko, the Italian is now manager at Chelsea; Andriy`s parent club.

Shevchenko scored just two goals in 26 appearances in all competitions this season.
