World champions Italy needed two own goals by Kakha Kaladze, who plays his club football for AC Milan, to secure a 2-0 win over Georgia in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, according to Xinhua.
Kaladze headed into the top corner of his own net a fine cross from Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo in the 56th minute to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.
The AC Milan center-back did it again on 67 minutes as he diverted Domenico Criscito`s cross into the net.
"I`m really sorry, because of me we conceded two goals but that happens in football," said Kaladze.
Italy stay top of group eight by a point with a game in hand over Republic of Ireland while Georgia remain bottom. The Italians will host Bulgaria in Turin on Wednesday.
