Ukrainian grand master Ruslan Ponomarev at tiebreaker gained a victory over Russian Vladimir Malahov with a score of 3:1 and became the second finalist of Chess World Cup, which took place  Khanty-Mansiysk city.

According to RIA Novosti, Ruslan Ponomarev having ended two classic chess games in a draw (1:1), he was defeated in the first meeting at quick chess, but after that gained a victory three times running. At the final he will meet with representative of Israel Boris Gelfand, who gained a victory over Ukrainian Sergiy Karyakin with a score of 2:0.
