The Frenchman has got in there early to make his World Cup picks, according to Goal.com.

UEFA president Michel Platini has taken a gander into the future and has picked Brazil as favourites to win World Cup 2010.

Reigning World Champions Italy are lagging far behind in Platini`s vision with Spain and England ahead of the Azzurri in the race for maximum stakes.

"Brazil have a great team with big players and the understanding of winning against the competition and this counts plenty," reported La Repubblica.

"However, Spain can create the Selecao great problems, especially if the two meet before the final."

Platini believes England`s long wait for success could act as their springboard for greatness.

"Another side who arrive well in South Africa is Fabio Capello`s England. They have endured a long drought in terms of trophies," he added.

"But we must also keep an eye out for the traditional teams like Italy and Holland, as well as the African teams who will be playing at home."
