The Blues have made no secret of their desire to sign the Ukraine international from AC Milan, although the player and the Italian club have in the past insisted there is little chance of a transfer, according to FansFC.

However, things seemed to have changed last week when Shevchenko admitted he wanted to leave the San Siro – yet his employers have warned the Blues that he remains their player.

"Sheva is a Milan player," said chief officer Adriano Galliani. "He is not for sale."
