All who come to Ukraine during the UEFA Euro-2012 will see not only a great football festival, but also discover a unique country, according to Information Centre Ukraine-2012. This was announced at a press conference in Kyiv, Serhiy Bubka, legend and leader of Olympic sports, president of the International Olympic Committee and friend of Euro-2012. He noted that Ukraine has a decent and hospitable people and, like Europe, has a unique cultural heritage and great history. In addition, Ukraine is a young and very ambitious country.
"Ukraine is a big sporting country with strong potential. These are outstanding achievements of its athletes, including Olympic sports. From 1952 to the present day Ukrainians won 603 Olympic medals. This trend is well followed in the statistics of the USSR, where half of 1,240 medals were provided by Ukrainians", the legendary athlete noted.
He praised the country`s readiness for the tournament, which is about to come, as the Euro is little more than two months away. "Time passes very quickly. I well remember how on 18 April 2007 in Cardiff Poland and Ukraine got the right to host Euro-2012, and how proud we were of our country. Five years has passed and Ukraine has prepared all the necessary facilities. And now we are waiting for the big football event. Let the best, strongest team win!", Serhiy Bubka said.
