Preparations for hosting Euro-2012 in Ukraine are being successfully completed before the continental football tournament, according to Information Centre Ukraine-2012.
Progress can be felt in all directions, and all details and adjustments are related to the operational component of preparation for the matches themselves, the director of the Euro-2012 Ukraine LOC, Markiyan Lubkivskyi, has said at a press conference in Kyiv.
According to him, the last touches in preparations at the Kyiv and Lviv arenas are presently being made. “Works at the Donbas Arena and the Metalist stadium are 100% complete, and they are models even for Poland’s stadiums. Questions still exist with regard to operation of the Lviv stadium. Regretfully, Karpaty Lviv FC have turned down playing at Arena Lviv, but I believe that they will come back to the arena because each event in the sports object is worth its weight in gold. This is an opportunity to test the stadium,” the tournament director said, having added that operational activity standards in Ukraine’s stadiums are close to UEFA standards during the tournament.
The LOC director has emphasized that Ukraine is ready to accommodate fans during all Euro-2012 matches. “Thousands of places are still available for fans in one-star, two-star and three-star hotels, along with sanatoriums and hostels. This is good and high-quality accommodation at reasonable prices. Besides this, places for accommodation in camping sites specially arranged for football fans are available,” Markiyan Lubkivskyi informed.
