Two male civilians, 43 and 45, are reported to have been injured in an explosion of an unknown device in the town of Maryinka, Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine.

One of the men is said to have stepped on an explosive device, which detonated in his own yard, the press service of the Ukrainian police in Donetsk region has said.

The man came to his house with a friend to check the situation, as the owner together with the family had temporarily moved from the area because of war.

Two injured were taken to hospital in the neighboring town of Kurakhove. Their injuries are minor and there is no threat to their life.

Police opened a criminal case on charges of a terrorist act.
