Russia's hybrid military forces mounted 21 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with three Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action (WIA).

"According to intelligence reports, five occupiers were killed and four others were wounded," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an update on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on August 2, 2018.

One Ukrainian soldier is also reported missing. Searches are under way.

The Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire mainly from grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms to attack the defenders of the town of Maryinka, and the villages of Krymske, Stanytsia Luhanska, Novoluhanske, Travneve, Novomykhailivka, Lebedynske, Talakivka, Pavlopil, Hnutove and Vodiane. In certain areas, the enemy engaged infantry fighting vehicles.

"Since Thursday midnight, Russian-led forces have mounted eight attacks on the Ukrainian positions near the villages of Krymske, Novoluhanske, Lebedynske, Hnutove and Shyrokyne. Along with this, the occupiers shelled our positions near Vodiane, using an 82mm mortar. Two our soldiers were wounded since then," the report says.
