Russia's hybrid military forces mounted 24 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with two Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action (WIA).

"According to intelligence reports, two occupiers were killed and another one was wounded," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an update on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on August 22, 2018.

Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire from grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms to attack the defenders of the town of Avdiyivka, and the villages of Artema, Novotoshkivske, Krymske, Zaitseve, Zalizne, Novomykhailivka, Pisky, Chermalyk, Hnutove, Pavlopil, Lebedynske, Vodiane, and Shyrokyne. In certain areas, the enemy employed infantry fighting vehicles.

Using heavy weapons, the enemy fired 120mm mortars at the Ukrainian positions near Zalizne and Hnutove, as well as 82mm mortars at the defenders of Avdiyivka and Chermalyk.

"Since Wednesday midnight, Russian-led forces have mounted four attacks on the Ukrainian positions outside Pavlopil, Lebedynske and Vodiane. No heavy weapons were used. There have been no casualties among Ukrainian troops since the beginning of the day," the report says.
