Russian-led forces mounted 18 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in the past day, while certain stabilization is reported on the first day of the so-called "back to school" ceasefire agreed upon recently in the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group.

"No casualties among the Ukrainian troops have been reported over the past day," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation said in an update on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on August 30, 2018.

Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire from an 82mm mortar, weapons installed on infantry fighting vehicles, as well as grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms against the defenders of the towns of Svitlodarsk, and the villages of Stanytsia Luhanska, Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Troyitske, Pivdenne, Novhorodske, Novomykhailivka, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Talakivka, Lebedynske, and Vodiane. In the Horlivka sector, the enemy employed a mortar near Novhorodske.
