Russia's hybrid military forces mounted 36 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with three Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action (WIA).

"Three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in the past day. According to intelligence reports, five occupiers were killed and another six were wounded," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an update published on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on October 9, 2018.

Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire from grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms to attack the defenders of the towns of Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, and Maryinka, and the villages of Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Katerynivka, Stepne, Troyitske, Luhanske, Travneve, Pisky, Novomykhailivka, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Vodiane, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne.

In addition, the enemy resorted to 120mm mortars to shell the Ukrainian positions near Krymske, Luhanske, Vodiane, and Lebedynske, while the Ukrainian fortified positions near Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Luhanske, and Travneve came under fire from 82mm mortars. Moreover, the defenders of Shyrokyne were attacked with the use of a ZU-23-2 towed 23mm anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon. Furthermore, the occupiers resorted to cannons of infantry fighting vehicles to fire at the defenders of Novotoshkivske, Troyitske, Vodiane, and Lebedynske.

"Since Tuesday midnight, Russian-led forces have mounted two attacks on the Ukrainian positions near Pavlopil and Shyrokyne, using grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms. No heavy weapons were used. No casualties among Ukrainian troops have been reported since the start of the day," reads the report.
