Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed in a landmine blast in the past 24 hours, while the total number of attacks by Russia's hybrid military forces on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, reached 28 incidents.

"Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed in a landmine blast in the past day. According to intelligence reports, six occupiers were killed and another 10 were wounded," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an update on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on October 11, 2018.

Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire from grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms to attack the defenders of the towns of Zolote, Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka and Maryinka, and the villages of Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Stepne, Troyitske, Novoluhanske, Travneve, Zaitseve, Novomykhailivka, Starohnativka, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne.

The enemy also resorted to 120mm mortars to shell the Ukrainian positions near Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Travneve, Novoluhanske and Krasnohorivka, while the Ukrainian fortified positions near Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Novoluhanske, Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, Hnutove and Lebedynske were attacked with the use of 82mm mortars. In addition, the defenders of Zolote and Hnutove came under fire from anti-tank missiles, while those in Krymske and Travneve were attacked with the use of weapons of infantry fighting vehicles. Moreover, the Ukrainian positions near Novotoshkivske were attacked with the use of a ZU-23-2 towed 23mm anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon. The Ukrainian fortified position near Hnutove came under sniper fire.

"Since Thursday midnight, Russian-led forces have mounted three attacks on the Ukrainian positions near Hnutove and Shyrokyne, using heavy machine guns and small arms. No heavy weapons have been used. No casualties among Ukrainian troops have been reported since the start of the day," reads the report.
