In the past day, October 16, Russian-occupation forces 19 times opened fire on the positions of the Joint Forces in eastern Ukraine.

Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed in action and another one – wounded, according to the morning report by the Joint Forces HQ.

The enemy three times used weapons banned by the Minsk agreements.

In particular, militants opened aimed fire from 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine-guns, and small arms.

The press service also reported on the intensified sniper fire.

The invaders attacked JF positions in the settlements of Stanytsia Luhanska, Novozvanivka, Luhanske, Pisky, Maryinka, Berezove, Chermalyk, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Vodiane, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne.

Strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Luhanske came under enemy fire from 120mm and 82mm mortars as well as weapons installed on infantry fighting vehicles.

The JF positions in the area of Vodiane were shelled from 82mm mortars. In Maryinka and Berezove, snipers opened fire at the Ukrainian military.

According to intelligence data, over the past day, three invaders were killed and two more were wounded. On October 17, from day start, the enemy twice shot at the positions of the Joint Forces in the Mariupol direction in the area of Hnutove and Lebedynske from grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns, and small arms.

No heavy weapons have been used on Wednesday yet. No losses among Ukrainian troops were reported.
