Russia's hybrid military forces mounted 19 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with three Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action (WIA).

"Three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in the past day. According to intelligence reports, eight occupiers were killed and another two were wounded," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an update published on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on October 22, 2018.

Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire from 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms to attack the defenders of the towns of Schastia, Popasna, Maryinka and Krasnohorivka, and the villages of Krymske, Shumy, Pisky, Taramchuk, Pavlopil, Vodiane, Hnutove, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne.

"A fortified position of our troops near Vodiane came under fire from 120mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms, while the positions near Krymske and Shyrokyne were attacked with the use of 82mm mortars. Moreover, the defenders of Schastia came under sniper fire," the report says.

"Since Monday midnight, Russian-led forces have attacked the Ukrainian positions near the village of Novotroyitske, using grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms," reads the report.
