Donbas war update: Ukraine reports one KIA, three WIA's in past day
Russia's hybrid military forces mounted 24 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action (KIA) and another three as wounded in action (WIA).
"One Ukrainian soldier was killed and another three were wounded in the past day. According to intelligence reports, two occupiers were killed and another five were wounded," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an update on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on December 5, 2018.
Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire from grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns, and small arms as they attacked the defenders of the towns of Avdiyivka and Krasnohorivka. The following villages also came under enemy fire: Krymske, Novozvanivka, Troyitske, Luhanske, Pisky, Slavne, Taramchuk, Berezove, Novomykhailivka, Starohnativka, Vodiane, and Shyrokyne.
The enemy also employed 82mm mortars to attack the defenders of Krymske, Pisky, Novozvanivka, Shyrokyne, and Vodiane, while 120mm mortars were used near Luhanske. Moreover, the defenders of Krasnohorivka came under fire from anti-tank missile systems, while those near Troyitske and Vodiane were attacked with the use of weapons of infantry fighting vehicles.
"Since Wednesday midnight, Russian-led forces have attacked the Ukrainian positions near Taramchuk. No heavy weapons were used. No casualties among Ukrainian troops have been reported since the start of the day," the report said.
