A Ukrainian soldier was shot by an enemy sniper in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, on Thursday, December 13.

"Our troops' positions were attacked with the use of grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns and small arms near the towns of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk sector and near the village of Lebedynske in the Mariupol sector," the press service of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an evening update on Facebook. "One member of the Joint Forces died from an enemy sniper's bullet."

In total, Russian-led forces mounted nine attacks on the Ukrainian army from 00:00 to 18:00 Kyiv time on December 13.

The invaders used proscribed weapons twice. In particular, they opened fire from 82mm mortars to shell JFO units near the village of Hnutove in the Mariupol sector.

The situation is under control, the JFO press service said.
