Russia's hybrid military forces mounted three attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas on February 23, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action.
"From 00:00 to 18:00 Kyiv time today, the enemy mounted three attacks on our troops' positions. Weapons banned under the Minsk agreements were used in two of them," the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said in an evening update on February 23. "As a result of shelling, one JFO member was killed in action."
"In the zone of responsibility of the Skhid (East) Tactical Grouping, militants fired at positions of the Ukrainian military near the village of Chermalyk, using an antitank missile system," the report said.
In the action area of the Pivnich (North) Tactical Grouping, mercenaries opened fire from 120mm and 82mm mortars, automatic grenade launchers, and heavy machine guns at Ukrainian positions near the village of Katerynivka.
The Ukrainian military fired back, using allowed weapons.
The enemy's losses are being clarified.
