According to Chaliy, the residents of Mariupol’s Vostochniy district – the part of the city hit by rockets on January 24, killing 31 civilians - could hear the sound of the rocket barrage.
"This is a provocation - the militants are firing Grad multiple rocket launcher systems from the village of Kominternove, which is the buffer zone," he said.
"In this way they want to blame the Ukrainian armed forces for violating the ceasefire," Chaliy said.
"As of 1440, the militants have fired with tanks, mortars and heavy artillery on the positions of the Ukrainian army in the village of Shyrokyne," he said.
At the same time, the headquarters of the Territorial Defense of Mariupol reported on its Facebook page that the militants had fired Grad rockets on the village of Lebedynske.
"The Russian-backed militants have just fired Grad multiple rocket launcher systems on the village of Lebedynske from the village of Kominternove," the report reads.
"In addition, the militants have attacked with mortars the village of Vodiane from the village of Zaichenko, and now their three tanks are firing on the positions of the National Guard of Ukraine and the village itself," the report says.
