Militants violate ceasefire 12 times in last 12 hours
Russian-backed militants are generally complying with the ceasefire and implementing the Minsk agreements, but some militant units in the parts of Ukraine they have seized continue attacking Ukrainian positions, using mainly small arms, the press center of the Ukrainian government's Anti-Terrorist Operation reported on Wednesday.
"From 1800 on March 3 to 0600 on March 4 the militants attacked the villages of Opytne, Pisky, and Berezoviy. At midnight, they fired artillery on Avdiivka, and they also fired mortars and multiple rocket launcher systems on the village of Vodiane," the report says.
Russian-backed militants also fired rocket-propelled grenades and small arms on the village of Shastya. Near the village of Lebedynske not far from Mariupol Ukrainian positions were fired on by a sniper.
In addition, the Ukrainian armed forces observed a militant reconnaissance drone over the villages of Krasnivka and Znamenivka.
"In general, from 1800 yesterday and until now the militants have used weapons against the Ukrainian armed forces 12 times. Ukrainian soldiers continue to strengthen the defensive line and prepare for the second phase of redeployment of artillery systems certain distances away, according to the [Minsk] international agreements," the press center said.
