Russia's hybrid military forces in the past 24 hours mounted 13 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action, and another one – as wounded in action.

"One Ukrainian soldier was killed in action and another one was wounded in the past day. Each enemy provocation saw an adequate response. According to intelligence reports, one occupier was killed and another four were wounded," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation said in an update posted on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on May 17, 2019.

Russian occupation forces opened fire from 120mm and 82mm mortars, weapons installed on infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns, and small arms. Under attack came Ukrainian positions near the town of Maryinka, and the villages of Vodiane, Opytne, Novotroyitske, Kamianka, Pavlopil, Bohdanivka, Zolote-4, and Novozvanivka.

"From midnight on Friday, Russia-led forces attacked Ukrainian positions near the village of Hnutove, using heavy machine guns and small arms. There were no casualties among the Ukrainian military [on Friday]," the report said.
