The member of Ukraine's Joint Forces who went missing in action after a skirmish with Russia-led forces near the town of Popasna, Luhansk region, on May 27, has been found dead.

"At about 15:00 today [May 29], the body of Stepanchenko B.M., a soldier of a separate mechanized brigade, was found as a result of joint efforts of the OSCE [Special] Monitoring Mission and the Evacuation 200 group. [The body was] at the site of a skirmish [that happened] after he and other mine specialists were attacked by an enemy subversive group on May 27 during an inspection of land mine explosive barriers before the front defense edge of a mechanized division of a unit near the town of Popasna," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation said on Facebook late on Wednesday, May 29.

The soldier's body is currently in the temporarily occupied territory.

"The body is to be transferred to representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the Schastia entry and exit checkpoint on May 31," it said.
