One Ukrainian soldier killed, two wounded in Donbas conflict zone in last day
One Ukrainian soldier was killed and another two injured in the Donbas conflict zone over the last 24 hours, National Security and Defense Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"Over the last day, we have lost one Ukrainian soldier, and another two were injured as a result of military clashes," Lysenko said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, fighting between Russian-backed militants and the Ukrainian army took place at 2000 in Luhansk region near the village of Sokolnyky, during which the militants fired mortars, anti-aircraft guns, automatic weapons, and anti-tank grenade launchers.
There has been a large increase in the intensity of the fighting in eastern Ukraine over the last few days, with many in the country fearing there may soon be a return to full-scale hostilities.
