Yevhen Korosteliov, the commander of the 128th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has died of wounds in hospital in Kharkiv.

"He died in the early hours today. His condition had sharply deteriorated," representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's ArmyInform news agency Dmytro Chaly said, the news portal Depo.Kharkiv reported.

The final cause of the officer's death is now being established, he said.

"At about 04:00 a.m. Kyiv time today, commander of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade, Colonel Yevhen Korosteliov's heart stopped beating at the Military Medical Clinical Center of Kharkiv's Northern district. The officer was seriously wounded on November 12 while performing tasks in the Joint Forces Operation zone," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote on Facebook on November 19.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the officer was wounded in a booby-trap blast in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, on November 12.
