Moskal: Two Ukrainian soldiers wounded in Luhansk region in last day
Two Ukrainian soldiers were injured on Thursday as a result of the shelling by Russian-backed militants of villages in Luhansk region, the press service of Governor of Luhansk Region Hennadiy Moskal said on Friday.
According to the report, last night the militants fired mortars on the town of Hirske in Popasnianskiy district. The shelling was conducted from the militant-occupied town of Pervomaisk.
"At about 1930, one of the missiles flew into the private sector of the town and hit a house. As a result, the house was severely damaged. The female owner of the house was not damaged," the report says.
"In general, along the demarcation line in Luhansk region, the intensity of the fighting has increased significantly. On the Bakhmutka highway, in the afternoon the militants fired mortars and automatic weapons at the 29th Ukrainian checkpoint. One soldier was injured. There is no threat to his life," the report said.
"In addition, on the outskirts of the village of Krymske, starting from 1900 until night, a firefight broke out and escalated into the next battle. There is no information about casualties. The militants also fired automatic weapons and sniper rifles on the positions of the Ukrainian armed forces in the village of Triokhizbenka. One soldier was injured and hospitalized in the district hospital," Moskal said.
In addition, the militants fired automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades on the positions of the Ukrainian army in the villages of Stanytsia Luhanska, Shastya and near the village of Katerynivka. There is no information about the destruction of infrastructure and housing, or casualties.
As Moskal reported earlier, on Thursday the militants fired tank shells and mortars on the villages of Stanytsia Luhanska, Troitske and Katerynivka.
