The situation in the Donbas conflict zone has not undergone significant changes in the last day and continues to be tense, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation reported on its Facebook page on Friday.
"The militants are firing on villages and on the positions of our troops in order to destroy as much as possible, and also to show the world their complete disregard for any agreements. They fired banned artillery and mortars along almost the whole demarcation line," the report says.
The report said Russian-backed militants fired 120mm mortars and 122mm artillery on the village of Vodiane, the mine of Butivka, the town of Avdiivka, and on the villages of Opytne, Marinka, Pisky, Sieverne, Slavne, and Hranitne. They also fired Grad rockets on the village of Novolaspa.
At the same time, in the area of Artemivsk, the militants fired the same types of weapons on the villages of Novhorodske, Shyroka Balka, Leninske, Kirove, Zolote, Troitske. They also fired shells from self-propelled artillery on the villages of Shyroka Balka and Kirove.
As reported earlier, the militants on Thursday fired mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and small arms on the village of Shyrokyne.
According to the press center, the militants want to destroy the village of Shastya where Russian troops were captured last weekend: they fired artillery and from two tanks on the village at night.
"The militants also did not forget to fire on the villages of Opytne, Vodiane, and the town of Avdiivka. They fired 122mm artillery on the town of Horlivka from the Zalizna Balka River. They also fired mortars several times on the Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant," the report reads.
"During this period, the Ukrainian army recorded nine reconnaissance overflights by enemy drones in Luhansk and Donetsk regions," the ATO headquarters said.
