Russia's hybrid military forces on January 22 mounted six attacks on Ukrainian Army positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action (KIA).

"The armed forces of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire six times on January 22. One Ukrainian soldier was killed as a result of enemy shelling," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation Headquarters said in an update posted on Facebook as of 07:00 Kyiv time on January 23.

The enemy engaged Ukrainian troops with proscribed 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns, and small arms. In addition, the enemy employed sniper fire.

Under attack came Ukrainian positions near the villages of Pavlopil, Talakivka, Lebedynske, Vodiane, Mayorsk, and Shumy.

"Since Thursday midnight, Russia-led forces have attacked Ukrainian positions near the village of Opytne, using rifles. One Ukrainian soldier was wounded," the update said.
