Ukrainian military repels militant attack on Marinka without loss - Poltorak
Ukrainian forces have brought the militant offensive on Marinka to a halt, according to a statement of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, journalist Roman Bochkala wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
"Today the separatists really have intensified their activities, not along the whole line but in a particular area - Marinka, Krasnohorivka. The attack was launched at 0410. As of now, it has been repelled," Bochkala wrote.
Seven Ukrainian soldiers have been reported wounded in the fighting, with no fatalities. The situation is under control.
As UNIAN reported earlier referring to the statement of a volunteer doctor Armen Nikohosyan, the attack was launched at about 0400 from Donetsk. The militants fired both Grad rockets and tank shells at Ukrainian positions in Marinka.
Both types of weapons were supposed to have been withdrawn out of range of the front line under the Minsk peace agreement of February 12.
According to Igor Savchuk from Kyiv-2 battalion, reinforcements from the Ukrainian armed forces have arrived in Marinka.
