Residents of the occupied territories in Donbas are not paid their wages until they agree to obtain "passports" of internationally unrecognized "Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics" ("DPR" and "LPR").

"The Russian occupying administrations are increasing pressure on residents of the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions who don't intend to renounce Ukrainian citizenship. In particular, some CEOs don't pay wages or impose wage cuts on workers who have not obtained the so-called 'republican passports.' At the same time, the occupying administrations claim locals could enjoy streamlined Russian naturalization if they have the so-called 'DPR/LPR passports'," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation reported with reference to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
