The explosion that destroyed a Ukrainian coastguard patrol vessel in the Sea of Azov just outside Mariupol on Sunday, killing one and injuring several others on board, was caused by an improvised explosive device which came from militant-controlled territory, according to Ukrainian officials.

Mariupol remains one of the main strategic targets of the Russian-terrorist forces as the Kremlin seeks to create a corridor to the annexed Crimea, with this government-controlled port city directly on its path, Ukraine Today reports.
