Three Ukrainian soldiers killed, 14 wounded in conflict zone in last day
Three Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and another 14 injured in the Donbas conflict zone over the last 24 hours, presidential administration spokesman for ATO issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"Over the last day, we have lost three Ukrainian soldiers, and another 14 were injured as a result of military clashes," Lysenko said.
Earlier, Ukraine's military reported that the Russian-backed militants in the Donbas had made 79 attacks in Ukrainian army positions over the last day - a level of fighting similar that seen before a ceasefire was supposed to have come into effect in February.
None of the ceasefires declared in eastern Ukraine have held for more than a few months, with the pattern being that large-scale conflict gradually resumes, and the Russian-backed militants assume control of more of Ukraine's territory in small offensives.
