Five Ukrainian soldiers wounded in Donbas conflict zone in last day
No Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the Donbas conflict zone over the last 24 hours, but five were wounded in attacks by Russian-backed militants, the Ukrainian Presidential Administration’s spokesman on the Anti-Terrorist Operation, Colonel Andriy Lysenko, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the militants last night shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements about 70 times. In just the last day the Russian-backed militants have launched 101 attacks on Ukrainian positions, the Ukrainian military said on Facebook on Monday.
At Novotoshkivske, Ukrainian forces came into contact with a group of 35 militants and engaged them in fire. The militants treated after suffering casualties, the Ukrainian military said.
The number of militant attacks reported by the Ukrainian military has been steadily growing over the last month, and has now reached levels not seen since before a ceasefire was supposed to have come into effect on February 15.
