Russian Army in Ukraine: Fear of being sent to Donbas leads soldiers to abandon their posts
Ukraine Today provides exclusive translations of an investigative report by Russia’s Gazeta.ru which contains evidence contradicting the Kremlin’s claims of non-involvement of the Russian troops in the Donbas conflict.
The Ukrainian officials and the West have long accused Russia of supplying weapons to eastern Ukrainian militants and also deploying soldiers in Donbas.
12,000 Russian troops, including ‘military advisers, weapons operators,’ and also combat soldiers have been helping the insurgents, US Army Europe Commander Ben Hodges has told the media back in March, according to Ukraine Today.
