Ukraine-held areas near occupied Donetsk under dense fire
Russian-backed militants have concentrated fire on Ukrainian positions near the militant-controlled city of Donetsk, having attacked the Ukrainian troops 23 times in Donbas during Monday, according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).
"Using the guns of infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms, the mercenaries would open provocative fire on the villages of Pisky [near the ruined Donetsk airport] and Novhorodske, Pervomaiske and Opytne, and on the towns of Avdiyivka and Maryinka. Pisky was also under direct sniper fire," the ATO press service wrote on Facebook.
Firing in the Luhansk sector was focused on the town of Schastia – militants used grenade launchers to shell it, the source said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed and another two were wounded in the Donbas conflict zone in the last 24 hours, according to presidential administration spokesman for ATO issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko.
