Ukrainian troops already attacked 24 times by Wednesday evening
Ukrainian troops have already been attacked by Russian proxies 24 times by Wednesday evening, according to the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) press center.
"Since the beginning of the day, militants from illegal armed formations have opened fire on ATO forces 24 times," the press center wrote on Facebook.
Ukrainian positions in the town of Maryinka came under mortar fire twice in the early hours of Wednesday.
"During the daytime, the town was under sniper fire," the press center said.
Militants used large-caliber machine-guns and small arms to shell Ukrainian strongholds near the village of Novhorodske close to the militant-held town of Horlivka.
Ukrainian troops deployed in the village of Opytne near the ruined Donetsk airport were under mortar and grenade fire. Small arms were used to fire on the village of Pisky.
The ATO forces based in the town of Shyrokyne, which is close to the Ukrainian-controlled port city of Mariupol, were also attacked by militants who used small arms.
