ATO HQ: 42 attacks on Ukraine troops in last day
The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 42 times in the past 24 hours, including 29 times in the Donetsk sector, 12 times in the Mariupol sector and once in the Luhansk sector, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) reported on Tuesday.
"Near the Svitlodarsk bridgehead, the enemy fired 120mm and 82mm grenade launchers and machine guns six times on our fortified positions in the village of Zaitseve, as well as rocket-propelled grenades, heavy machine guns, and small arms in the villages of Novhorodske and Mayorsk. The Russian-backed mercenaries fired automatic grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns on the Ukrainian positions near the villages of Luhanske, Pisky and Verkhniotoretske. In addition, they fired mortars and automatic grenade launchers on our fortified positions near the town of Avdiyivka," the headquarters said.
