Ukraine survives 40 attacks in last day, heavy artillery hits Butivka mine
The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 40 times in the past 24 hours, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters.
"The highest number of barrages – 19 attacks – were recorded in the Donetsk sector, 18 in the Mariupol sector and three in the Luhansk sector," the ATO HQ said in an update as of 06:00 Kyiv time on June 14.
In the Donetsk sector, the enemy fired mortars on the Ukrainian positions near the villages of Leninske, Novhorodske, Opytne, and the town of Avdiyivka.
Around midnight, the enemy used heavy artillery systems to shell the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Kamianka and Butivka coal mine. Militants were firing from the temporarily occupied territory to the east of the village of Spartak and residential districts of the city of Donetsk.
What is more, Russian-backed mercenaries fired heavy machine guns and grenade launchers of various systems on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the villages of Luhanske, Troyitske, and Avdiyivka.

Militants also used grenade launchers of various systems and infantry fighting vehicles to shell ATO forces near the villages of Talakivka, Pavlopil, and Slavne.
"In the Luhansk sector, the illegal armed groups were trying to provoke our soldiers to fire back near the villages of Novozvanivka and Bohuslavske," the report says.
