Russian proxies attack ATO forces 48 times ahead of Independence Day
Combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 48 times in the past 24 hours – 19 times in the Donetsk sector, 22 times in the Mariupol sector and seven times in the Luhansk sector – according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation headquarters.
In the Donetsk sector, the occupiers fired banned 122mm heavy artillery systems, launching more than 75 shells on Ukrainian positions in the villages of Zaitseve and Dacha. North of the town of Krasnohorivka, the enemy fired 152mm artillery systems, launching another four dozen shells.
"Russia's hybrid military force fired 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms at those defending the town of Avdiyivka. They also actively used 120mm mortars to attack the villages of Semyhiria and Nevelske. The enemy fired 82mm mortars and heavy machine guns at the town of Svitlodarsk and the villages of Luhanske and Troyitske, grenade launchers of various systems and heavy machine guns at the village of Verkhniotoretske, as well as automatic mounted grenade launchers near the village of Maiorsk. The militants also fired from infantry fighting vehicles and 120mm mortars at Svitlodarsk and near Luhanske," the report stated.
In the Mariupol sector, the situation was tense with the occupiers using heavy artillery thrice. In the morning, they fired 122mm artillery systems at the village of Myrne and 152mm artillery systems on Ukrainian positions in the village of Sionitne, and with the onset of night, they fired 152mm artillery systems and launched 50 shells on Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Talakivka.

The enemy used 82mm mortars while attacking the town of Krasnohorivka, heavy machine guns against Maryinka and the village of Novotroyitske, grenade launchers during their assault on the villages of Mykolaivka and Vodiane, and small arms at the village of Starohnativka.
"The enemy opened fire from rocket-propelled grenades and heavy machine guns at those defending the village of Shyrokyne and from infantry fighting vehicles near the village of Hnutove," the report read.
In Luhansk region, the militants fired 82mm mortars and automatic mounted grenade launchers at the village of Krymske, grenade launchers at the village of Novozvanivka and the town of Zolote, heavy machine guns at the village of Novo-Oleksandrivka, and small arms at the village of Lopaskyne. A sniper was active near Zolote and Novo-Oleksandrivka.
The Ukrainian army recorded three flights of the enemy's UAVs in the last 24 hours, the press center stated.
