ATO HQ: Ukrainian soldier joins Donbas militants to shun punishment for crime
A Ukrainian soldier has joined illegal armed formations in Donbas in order to escape the punishment for a serious crime, according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters.
"Yesterday, a serviceman of one of our units committed a serious crime. Hoping to avoid the punishment, he defected to the enemy," the report says.
However, the ATO HQ did not elaborate on details of the crime committed by the defector.
As UNIAN reported earlier, combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 42 times in the past 24 hours.
