The activity of the Russian occupation forces was minimal before 19:00, whereas they resumed shelling our positions in the evening as usual.

In the Donetsk sector, the militants attacked the Ukrainian strong points near the Avdiyivka industrial zone four times from various directions, using grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. In addition, the ATO positions came under enemy fire in the area of Butivka coal mine and the village of Zaitseve. The militants also fired small arms on civilians' houses in the village of Maiorsk at around 23:00 for almost an hours.

"In the Lugansk sector at the end of the day, the enemy opened fire twice from 82mm mortars near the village of Novo-Oleksandrivka. As a result, one Ukrainian soldier was wounded. The militants also used grenade launchers near the villages of Katerynivka and Krymske," the report says.

The ATO forces suppressed severely most of the armed provocations by targeted fire, using weapons not banned by the Minsk agreements.

As UNIAN reported earlier, it was relatively quiet in the ATO area on the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine, August 23. Since midnight, there had been four ceasefire violations. Basically, the attacks were provocative and untargeted, according to ATO HQ.
